Cruise through the heart of Europe during the most festive time of year and you’ll experience the timeless tradition of its magical Christmas markets. Browse colorful market stalls filled to the brim with whimsical handicrafts and take in the aromas of cinnamon dusted almonds and Lebkuchen gingerbread as you sip a mug of hot mulled wine beneath endless strands of twinkling lights.
Day 1 - Vilshofen, Germany
Embark on your river ship. Unpack, mingle with fellow travelers and prepare for your day in Passau tomorrow. A special Octoberfest will be the highlight today.

Day 2 - Passau, Germany
Today you’ll visit Fourvière Hill, a UNESCO World Heritage designated region. Fourviere is home to the world’s most active and oldest funicular railway lines. It’s also home to the breathtaking Catholic Basilica. Spend the afternoon wandering Lyon’s “traboules” or covered walkways, and if you’re up for it, consider a leisurely paced cycle tour around town.

Day 3 - Linz, Austria
Sail to the ‘Land of Golden Stones’, a stunning wine region just south of Burgundy. Visit a winery and indulge in a wine tasting and tour. Learn about the unique techniques and grape varieties of this region.

Day 4 - Weissenkirchen, Austria
Once a popular Roman capital, Vienne dates back to the 1st century CE and is rich in both Roman and Medieval ruins. The Saint Maurice Cathedral, a favorite spot took more than 500 years to build and has its original stained glass windows. The Archaeolgical Museum in Vienne is also home to one of the oldest surviving churches in France.
Day 5 - Vienna, Austria
Perched on the edge of the River Rhone is the beautiful village of Tournon. You’ll have the option to choose one of three excursions in this port of call. You may want to visit a decadent wine and chocolate pairing at Le Château de Tournon. Your second choice sweeps you off on a private train journey across postcard perfect backdrops, and a stops in Colombier le Vieux-Saint Barthélemy le Plain before it turns around. And for the more active cruisers, hike through the Tain l’Hermitage and top it off with a visit to a local winery.

Day 6 - Bratislava, Slovakia
A walking tour will transport you back in time to an era when the Roman empire was at its strongest. This town is teeming with Romanesque architectural examples. Tarason is filled with scenes that inspired the post-impressionist painter Vincent Van Gogh. A bike tour of the city will take you over the Langlois Bridge, a historic structure you’ve likely seen in a number of Van Gogh’s works. Your guided tour will take you to the Castle of Tarason, and in the evening, enjoy an exciting showcase of art, history and sound.

Day 7 - Esztergom, Hungary
Did you know the Palais des Papas was the headquarters for the Catholic Church in th 14th century? It would have been considered the ‘Vatican’ of sorts at the time. The Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage site, and the perfect place to sample the regional wine, macarons, and fine cheeses. Tick off another World Heritage site and view the Pont du Gard, a superb example of Roman ingenuity.

Day 8 - Budapest, Hungary
Disembark. Spend another day or two exploring this historically and culturally important riverside town, or head to the airport and catch your flight home.
